Designed and built in North America exclusively for classic and vintage cars with 6-volt circuits, this charger is your new option for operating 12-volt accessories from your car’s 6-volt system, without having to change a part or the whole system. Changing your car’s electrical circuit from 6 to 12 volts and the charging system is a time-consuming and costly task. Some accessories, such as radios, pressure gauges, etc., won’t work or won’t work properly with 12 volts. The cost of conversion is high, and the car is no longer original.

With our system, the car retains its originality, its efficient 6-volt system and its accessories. Our system allows you to operate 12-volt accessories such as the EasyDrive power steering system. This unit is specially designed to charge a small sealed 12-volt battery. These sealed 12-volt batteries are inexpensive, robust and maintenance-free. They can be installed in many different positions, giving plenty of power. They are small in size, and easy to conceal even when space is limited. Under a seat, for example, or behind the dashboard.

The intelligent charger Fitzback Garage will enable you to operate the famous EasyDrive power steering system (which we’ve been selling since 2011) with complete peace of mind. You can even run a 12-volt electric radiator fan for temporary extra cooling in traffic jams. You can also recharge your smartphone, GPS and other small gadgets. A USB connector and harness is available as an option.

We all know that 6-volt car generators are relatively weak charging devices compared to today’s alternators, so we’ve built the charger accordingly. It will never drain your car’s 6-volt battery!

Should the sealed 12-volt battery become very weak, the charger will only require 8-9 amps from the 6-volt circuit to recharge it. For a fully charged sealed 12-volt battery, you’ll need around 2 amps to keep it at its best.

The intelligent charger automatically starts and stops charging using the 6-volt ignition signal (ACC). The intelligent charger starts charging only about 30 seconds after the ignition has been switched on. This is to maintain the maximum current available from the 6-volt battery to start the motor.

The “real power” for charging is supplied via the accessory terminal from the AMPS gauge to the smart charger, so you can “see” the charger running on your car, like lamps, or on the radio. This means that the needle will react like any other used accessory.

The intelligent charger from Fitzback Garage is supplied with two LEDs, one to confirm that the ignition signal is present and one to confirm that the intelligent charger is operating. This makes the charger very user-friendly.
